Dr. Kathleen Reay has over 22 years experience providing counselling, parent education, consulting, program development, and guest speaking. In private practice she has gained extensive experience with a wide variety of personal and relationship problems which are reflected in the scope of services offered. Dr. Reay is an expert on Parental Alienation, Parental Alienation Syndrome and Estrangement. In 2007, Dr. Reay conducted a published research study on the long-term effects of Parental Alienation Syndrome. She is currently conducting two other research studies on the topic. Dr. Reay was a keynote speaker at the 2011 Canadian Symposium for Parental Alienation Syndrome in Montreal, Quebec. She is also the Founder and Director of the International Institute for Parental Alienation Studies (IIPAS), an exceptional research institute and online learning program for alienated parents, extended family members, and professionals. Her new 2011 book called Toxic Divorce: A Workbook for Alienated Parents was published and released in July. Educational Background
Dr. Reay’s educational background includes a Ph.D. in psychology, M.A. in Counselling Psychology, B.A. in Psychology, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Family Studies. In 2010, she was honored to achieve Diplomate status with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress (AAETS). The Diplomate distinction is a prestigious credential that was awarded to Dr. Reay by the AAETS in recognition of her experience in working with numerous survivors of traumatic events and/or crisis management, as well as for her knowledge, training and level of education. Dr. Reay has also been certified in basic and advanced EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) training for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other psychological issues, plus is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Management by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. She continues to take many advanced courses in modern approaches to psychotherapy so that she can remain current with the best possible ways to help her clients.
